In the pipeline transportation systems of flammable gases or vapors, preventing flame propagation along the pipeline from causing chain explosions is a crucial safety challenge. The In-line Deflagration Flame Arrester is a core safety device specifically designed for this purpose. Installed directly on the process pipeline, it acts as an efficient "pipeline fire wall", which can reliably stop flames that are developing but have not yet reached the detonation stage (i.e., deflagration). It protects the safety of upstream and downstream equipment and personnel, and is a key link in the intrinsic safety design of pipeline systems.

Core Functions & Working Principle

This flame arrester is installed in series in the pipeline, suitable for pipe sections where flame may propagate, especially within 50 times the pipe diameter near potential ignition sources. Its core adopts a specially structured metal corrugated plate flame arrestor grid. When deflagration occurs in the pipeline, the flame front propagates at subsonic speed and enters the flame arrester. Based on the principles of "wall quenching" and "temperature effect", the narrow channels of the flame arrestor grid quickly conduct and dissipate the heat of the flame to the metal wall, reducing the flame temperature below the ignition point in an extremely short time, thereby effectively quenching the flame. At the same time, it can significantly attenuate the high pressure and high-speed air flow generated by deflagration, preventing the spread of disasters.
